Ranked consistently among the top 10 surf destinations in the world by the World Surf League (WSL), Arugam Bay ("A-Bay") is famous for its long, peeling right-hand sand points. Waves here can carry riders for hundreds of meters along scenic coastal headlands bordered by wild coastal scrub and grazing water buffaloes.
During these months, dry offshore trade winds sculpt clean ocean swells originating from deep in the Southern Ocean. Peak consistency arrives in June, July, and August, with waves ranging from 3 to 8 feet.
Located 10 minutes north in Pottuvil, Whiskey Point produces forgiving, rolling right-hand waves over a soft sandy bottom. It is the premier location for surf lessons and longboarders.
Tucked away through rugged sandy trails south of town, Peanut Farm offers two distinct take-off sections with fast, rippable walls. Elephant Rock features dramatic natural scenery and uncrowded sunset peelers.
