The Ghost of the Forest: What is a Slender Loris?

Known locally as the "Unahapuluwa," the Slender Loris is a small, nocturnal primate endemic to the mists of Sri Lanka and parts of Southern India. These elusive creatures are famous for their large, soulful eyes and spindly limbs, which they use to move with silent precision through the canopy. In Sri Lanka, we are privileged to host two distinct species: the Red Slender Loris (wet zone) and the Grey Slender Loris (dry zone).

Where to Witness Them in 2026
